Armed bandits disrupted Jumat prayers in multiple mosques in Dan-Ali, a community in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Friday, causing widespread panic as worshippers fled for safety.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed the area and opened fire sporadically, forcing the suspension of prayers. A resident of the community, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident.

“We were at the Jumat prayer when we heard the shooting, and everybody ran. We couldn’t continue the prayers. Thankfully, the Security Watch Corps in the area gave them a hot chase,” the source said.

He added that the community urgently needs reinforcement, as bandits have been terrorizing the area for over a week. Farmers in Dan-Ali and surrounding villages, including Gwarjo, Dangane, Tudun, Tasha Kadanya, and Tasha Biri, have been prevented from accessing their farmlands due to the increasing bandit attacks.

“Many farmers have been kidnapped, and we are all scared to enter our farms,” the source further disclosed.

At the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, for comments were unsuccessful. The situation has heightened fears in the region, with locals calling for immediate intervention from security forces.
