The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has revoked land allocations in Maitama II, Abuja, affecting former President Muhammadu Buhari, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, among others.
A total of 759 prominent individuals and organizations were impacted by the revocation due to non-payment of the required Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) fees. This development was disclosed in a publication by the FCT Administration and shared with Channels Television by the minister’s Special Adviser, Lere Olayinka.
In a separate notice, the minister also issued warnings to other high-profile individuals, including House of Representatives Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute, Senate Chief Whip Tahir Monguno, and 610 others, urging them to settle their outstanding fees within two weeks or face similar revocations.
This action follows months of warnings by the FCT Minister, who had repeatedly called on residents, especially those in prime areas of Abuja, to fulfill their financial obligations to the FCT Administration. The minister’s decision underscores the administration’s resolve to enforce compliance and address revenue shortfalls in the nation’s capital.
