Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid tribute to former Defence Minister, Lieutenant-General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, on his 87th birthday, describing him as a national hero whose legacy has shaped Nigeria’s political and social landscape.
Speaking at the birthday celebration held on Monday in Lagos, the Vice President lauded the elder statesman’s life of dedicated service, noting that T.Y. Danjuma embodies “the highest ideals of national service,” with a remarkable blend of moral courage, integrity, compassion, and philanthropy.
Highlighting his immense contributions to the nation, Shettima remarked, “Our celebrant today is not merely a character in our history books; he is history itself. He has lived a life that transcends the ordinary—a life defined by bravery in the face of adversity, integrity in public service, and selflessness in philanthropy.”
