Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé is now doubtful for Wednesday’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City after he failed to participate in the team’s training session.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development in a post on X on Tuesday, stating: “Kylian Mbappé didn’t train with the Real Madrid squad, and he’s a doubt to face Manchester City.”
The French star’s absence has raised concerns among fans and analysts, given his pivotal influence in Madrid’s attack. The club has yet to clarify whether Mbappé’s absence is due to an injury or simply a precautionary measure.
Mbappé has been in sensational form this season, scoring 16 league goals and nine goals in the ongoing 2025–26 Champions League campaign.
His potential unavailability adds to Real Madrid’s worries after they suffered a shock 2–0 defeat to Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday — their first home loss of the season and their first defeat to Celta in Madrid in 19 years.
