President Donald Trump has suggested that the ongoing conflict with Iran could continue for up to four weeks, according to an interview published Sunday by the Daily Mail.
“It’s always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It’s always been about a four-week process — as strong as it is, it’s a big country, it’ll take four weeks — or less,” the newspaper quoted Trump as saying.
His remarks come amid intensifying military operations between the United States and Iran, with growing casualties and heightened regional instability.
Trump also signalled openness to renewed negotiations with Iranian officials, though he declined to provide a timeline for potential talks.
“I don’t know,” he said when asked whether discussions would take place soon. “They want to talk, but I said you should have talked last week, not this week.”
The comments underscore what analysts describe as a dual-track approach by Washington — maintaining military pressure while leaving the door open for diplomatic engagement — even as the conflict shows few immediate signs of easing.
