A high-level phone discussion between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine was underway on Tuesday, with the White House indicating positive progress.

According to the White House, the conversation, which began at 1400 GMT, had lasted for nearly an hour and was still ongoing.

Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino shared an update on X, stating that the discussion was proceeding favorably.

The call comes amid ongoing tensions in Ukraine, with international efforts focused on brokering a ceasefire.

Both leaders have previously expressed willingness to engage in dialogue to address the conflict, though key points of negotiation remain undisclosed.

Further details on the outcome of the conversation are expected as officials continue to monitor developments.
