Speaking at the inauguration of Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama in Accra, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu called on world leaders to change their negative perception of Africa, emphasizing the continent’s efforts toward growth and prosperity.
“We have nothing to prove to anyone except ourselves,” Tinubu said. “We have found the critical path to our success and are working hard for the prosperity of our people.”
He urged collaborative efforts to address the social and economic challenges facing Africa, such as poverty, youth unemployment, instability, and insurgency. “We shall lift our nations out of poverty and build resilient economies at our own pace,” he added.
The event marked Mahama’s return to power as Ghana’s 12th president, having previously served from 2012 to 2017. After taking his oath of office, Mahama pledged to introduce reforms aimed at improving governance and fostering national development.
The inauguration drew many African and Commonwealth leaders, including Presidents William Ruto (Kenya), Julius Maada Bio (Sierra Leone), Bassirou Diomaye Faye (Senegal), Félix Tshisekedi (DR Congo), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Brice Oligui Nguema (Gabon), and Mamadi Doumbouya (Guinea).
President Tinubu’s remarks highlighted Africa’s determination to overcome its challenges and redefine its global image through focused leadership and collective progress.
