
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the State House, the Presidency said the President left Nigeria on December 28 in preparation for his participation in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Lagos on Sunday, December 28, for Europe, continuing his end of year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates,” the statement said.
The Presidency disclosed that President Tinubu would attend the summit at the invitation of the UAE leader.
“His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has invited President Tinubu to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week ADSW 2026 Summit,” it added.
The week-long event, scheduled to hold in early January in Abu Dhabi, is expected to bring together global leaders from government, business and civil society to deliberate on issues of sustainable development.
Explaining the focus of the summit, the Presidency said, “With the theme ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go’, ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence.”
The statement noted that President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
