The Take It Back (TIB) Movement has proposed a virtual meeting with the Lagos State Police Command, citing logistical difficulties in attending an in-person meeting. This was outlined in a letter sent by the group’s legal representatives, Inibehe Effiong Chambers, to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Intelligence Department, Jaiyeoba Joseph, on Wednesday.

The proposal followed an invitation from the police on Tuesday, asking key members of the movement, including its National Coordinator, Sanyaolu Juwon, to meet with the new Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola. The meeting is set to discuss issues of national interest, including the group’s planned October 1 protest.

While sources within TIB expressed concerns that the invitation might be a trap to arrest them, the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, reassured the public that the meeting was intended to be friendly and not for arrests.

In their response, TIB’s solicitors explained that several executive members were currently outside Lagos, making a physical meeting difficult. As a result, they proposed a virtual meeting as a more feasible alternative or a rescheduled physical meeting in early October when all members would be available.

The upcoming October 1 protest, tagged “FearlessInOctober,” will address pressing national issues, including economic hardship, inflation, and fuel scarcity.
