Newly appointed Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Thomas Frank, has bid an emotional farewell to Brentford, where he spent seven transformative years, describing his departure as leaving “a big piece of my heart.”
The 51-year-old Dane was unveiled on Thursday as Tottenham’s new manager on a three-year contract, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. Frank now faces the challenge of reviving Spurs’ Premier League form and steering them back to consistent top-flight contention.
Reflecting on his tenure at Brentford, where he oversaw 136 wins in 317 matches and led the club to Premier League promotion in 2021, Frank expressed deep gratitude and affection.
“The time has come for me to move on,” he wrote in a heartfelt message posted on Brentford’s official website. “But, even as I leave, I know I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford—not just at the football club but with the community and, of course, the incredible and loyal supporters.”
Frank continued: “I want to extend my profound gratitude to the club for giving me the chance to pursue my dreams and to everyone involved who made the journey such a memorable one. Whatever we have achieved, we have achieved together, and our success is built on unity, spirit, courage, and ambition at every level of the club and amongst the fans.”
He added, “I am not just leaving a football club; I am saying goodbye to friends whose support through good and bad times I will carry with me always.”
Frank becomes Tottenham’s fourth permanent manager since 2021 and steps into a high-pressure role as the North London club seeks to re-establish itself among England’s elite. Despite a dismal Premier League campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th, the club salvaged its season with a Europa League triumph in Bilbao, edging out Manchester United 1–0 in the final to secure Champions League qualification.
Ironically, Brentford finished 18 points and seven places above Spurs in the league standings under Frank’s leadership, underscoring the scale of his impact—and the task now ahead of him at Tottenham.
