Tespire, an EdTech startup founded in Northern Nigeria, is set to announce the completion of its pre-seed fundraising round by the end of this month. Launched by Abdulkadir Suleiman Lapai, a seasoned technology entrepreneur, and cybersecurity expert Umar Madugu, Tespire has quickly gained traction since its incorporation in 2022. Initially based in Northern Nigeria, the startup is now expanding its presence to the burgeoning tech ecosystem in Abuja.
Tespire’s mission stems from over a decade of efforts to address administrative inefficiencies in Nigerian schools, particularly in underserved regions. By offering digital tools like tablets and internet access, Tespire aims to streamline revenue collection and administrative tasks for school owners. The startup also envisions using this infrastructure to collect valuable data, paving the way for personalized learning through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The company’s broader vision focuses on increasing access to quality education across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. With strategic partners such as MTN Nigeria, Flutterwave, and Remita, Tespire is positioning itself as a key player in AI-driven education solutions.
Operating out of the Astound Innovation Hub in Abuja, Tespire is led by Lapai and Madugu, both hailing from Niger State, Nigeria. The pre-seed round marks a significant milestone, with plans for a future Seed round to further scale their impact on young learners’ access to quality education.
