In a dramatic turn of events, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was forced to relocate its scheduled meeting on Monday, June 30, 2025, after being denied entry into the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, by security operatives.
The BoT meeting, initially set to address growing tensions within the opposition party—particularly issues surrounding the position of the national secretary and preparations for the upcoming 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting—could not hold at the original venue due to heavy police presence.
Eyewitnesses reported that security personnel stationed at the Wadata Plaza gates turned back BoT members and other stakeholders.
According to former PDP national secretary, Umar Tsauri, the officers claimed they were acting on directives from higher authorities and that no gathering would be permitted at the premises.
In response to the blockade, party elders and BoT members swiftly reconvened at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, located in Abuja’s Central Business District, to proceed with their deliberations.
The incident has further intensified internal conflicts within the PDP, raising concerns about external interference and escalating political instability within the party’s ranks.
