Three-time African champions, the Super Eagles of Nigeria, have climbed four places in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Friday by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), Completesports.com reports.
According to the updated list published on FIFA’s official website, the Super Eagles moved up from 45th to 41st position globally.
Eric Chelle’s side also gained ground within Africa, rising one spot to break into the continent’s top five teams. Nigeria now trails only the Atlas Lions of Morocco, the Teranga Lions of Senegal, the Pharaohs of Egypt, and the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
The improvement follows a strong run of results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The Super Eagles recently secured back-to-back wins — a 2-1 victory over Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane and an emphatic 4-0 triumph against Benin Republic in Uyo.
Meanwhile, Spain retained the top position in the global standings, while Argentina climbed back to second, displacing France, who dropped to third. The Three Lions of England and Portugal complete the top five.
