Vice President Kashim Shettima has offered fervent prayers for Nigeria’s peace, stability, and prosperity during his Umrah pilgrimage at the Holy Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
In a statement released by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima’s visit from December 16 to 19, 2024, focused on seeking divine guidance for the nation’s leaders and citizens. “May Allah grant our leaders wisdom, patience, and the generosity of Muhammad Rasulullah in all their dealings,” the Vice President prayed.
Shettima also called for social harmony and effective governance, emphasizing the importance of tranquility across the country. “Let there be peace, tranquility, and prosperity in our nation,” he said.
The Vice President’s pilgrimage followed his representation of President Bola Tinubu in Dubai at the commissioning of a $315 million oil production and storage facility owned by Oriental Energy Limited, a significant investment in Nigeria’s oil sector.
While in Saudi Arabia, Shettima was scheduled to meet with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah to discuss co-financing arrangements for Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones aimed at advancing agricultural development in Nigeria. However, the meeting has been postponed to a later date.
Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria on Friday.
