The Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District, Abubakar Sani Bello, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two prominent figures of the Lapai Emirate — Alhaji Ibrahim Sheikh, Secretary of the Lapai Emirate Council and Danmasanin Lapai, and Alhaji Abdulkadir Marafa, the Nkochi of Lapai.

In a condolence message, the senator extended sympathies to the Emir of Lapai, Umaru Bago Tafida III, the families of the deceased and the entire people of the emirate over what he described as a painful loss.
Bello said the late council members were respected leaders who contributed significantly to the development and stability of the emirate.
He noted that both men were known for their dedication and service to the traditional institution, adding that their wisdom and commitment would be greatly missed.
According to him, their contributions to the unity and progress of the Lapai Emirate would remain part of the community’s collective memory.
The senator also reflected on the timing of their passing during the Muslim holy month.
“While urging the families of the deceased, the revered Emir, and the entire Lapai Emirate to bear the irreparable loss with patience and submission to the will of Allah, Senator Sani Bello prayed that the Almighty grant them the strength and fortitude to endure this difficult moment,” the statement said.
He offered prayers for the repose of the deceased.
“May Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgive their shortcomings, widen and illuminate their graves, and admit them into the highest ranks of Jannatul Firdaus. May He also grant their families, the Royal Father, HRH Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida, and the entire Lapai Emirate the patience and comfort to bear this loss,” he said.
