The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Abubakar Sani Bello, on Wednesday presided over the screening of the Chairman-designate of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Ismail Abba Yusuf, alongside Non-Career Ambassadorial Nominee and former Kebbi State Governor, Usman Dakingari.

Both nominees were presented to the committee following their nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They arrived at the screening in the company of the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Bashir Lado, who formally introduced them and urged members to consider their detailed curricula vitae and accompanying credentials already circulated.

In his remarks, Senator Bello commended President Tinubu for nominating individuals with distinguished track records, noting that public service at such strategic levels demands tested competence, integrity and depth of experience.

Committee members, after reviewing Ambassador Yusuf’s credentials, highlighted his diplomatic career, including postings to Argentina, Italy and China, as well as his service as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Turkey, noting that his international exposure and administrative experience position him suitably to lead NAHCON at this critical time.

The ambassadorial nominee, Alhaji Dakingari, was equally applauded for his service as former Executive Governor of Kebbi State and his longstanding contributions to national development, with the committee according him the privilege to “take a bow and go.”

Subsequently, a motion for the confirmation of the NAHCON Chairman-designate was duly moved and seconded, including by Natasha Akpoti, reflecting the committee’s confidence in the nominees’ capacity to advance Nigeria’s diplomatic and institutional interests.
