A security analyst has called for increased funding for the Nigeria Police Force as the country continues to grapple with rising insecurity across several regions.

Speaking during a programme on Channels Television, the analyst stressed that inadequate funding remains a major challenge limiting the effectiveness of the police in tackling crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism.

According to him, improving the operational capacity of the police requires deliberate investment in logistics, personnel welfare, and modern equipment.

“The police need more funding to function effectively. Without adequate resources, it will be difficult for them to tackle the current security challenges,” he said.

He noted that while security agencies have continued to make efforts, the scale and complexity of insecurity in the country demand stronger institutional support and better financing.

The analyst further emphasised that boosting funding would enhance intelligence gathering, response time, and overall policing efficiency, particularly in vulnerable communities.

He also highlighted the importance of complementing funding with broader reforms, including improved training and coordination among security agencies, to address the evolving nature of threats.

The call comes amid growing concerns over persistent attacks and criminal activities in different parts of the country, reinforcing the need for sustained investment in Nigeria’s security architecture.
