The management of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kumbotso, Kano State, has issued a stern warning to its students against involvement in cultism and unregistered associations. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Bunkure, emphasized the university’s zero tolerance policy during a press briefing on Tuesday.

Prof. Bunkure stressed that students are strictly prohibited from participating in any unregistered organizations. He underscored that adherence to the university’s code of conduct is mandatory, with strict penalties for violations including examination misconduct and general indiscipline.

“Our university does not tolerate membership in unregistered associations,” Prof. Bunkure stated. “All student organizations must be properly registered and comply with our institutional codes of conduct.”

He also highlighted that the university’s admission figures have increased this year, with 1,740 students admitted, surpassing last year’s intake. While the minimum cut-off mark for admission is 145, the university prioritizes students with higher scores in competitive subject areas.

“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set a minimum score of 140 for university admission nationwide, but our threshold is 145,” Prof. Bunkure noted.

In addition to academic and disciplinary matters, Prof. Bunkure revealed that the university has awarded a contract worth ₦370 million for the construction of new lecture halls, staff rooms, and other facilities.

Reiterating the university’s stance, Prof. Bunkure warned students against engaging in cultism or joining unregistered groups, emphasizing that the institution is committed to maintaining high standards of discipline and morality.
