Russian missile strikes claimed the lives of three people, including a child, in Dnipro, Ukraine, while separate attacks on Kyiv and its surrounding region killed two others, including a teenage girl, officials reported Saturday.
Overnight strikes on Dnipro injured 19 people and damaged multiple buildings, according to Sergiy Lysak, governor of the central Dnipropetrovsk region. “Three people were killed in Dnipro, including a child. Nineteen were injured, four of them children. Eight are hospitalized,” Lysak said. Images shared by Lysak showed rescuers searching through rubble and a hospital room with blown-out windows.
In Kyiv, regional authorities reported that drone strikes killed two people, including a teenage girl. Ukrainian cities, including the capital, have endured relentless missile and drone attacks since the onset of Russia’s invasion.
As Moscow intensifies its strikes on energy infrastructure, Kyiv has renewed its pleas to allies for enhanced air defense systems, bracing for a challenging winter.
