The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has made his first major appointment following his selection by President Bola Tinubu after the declaration of emergency rule in the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Ibas announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). He emphasized that the decision was made after a thorough review of Worika’s credentials, extensive experience, and performance in a rigorous selection process.
“The appointment reflects our administration’s commitment to harnessing the immense human capital of Rivers people in working towards lasting peace, stability, and security,” Ibas stated.
Meanwhile, the sole administrator also announced the resignation of the state’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nweke.
Expressing regret over Nweke’s departure, Ibas acknowledged his significant contributions to the state’s administration during his tenure. “We appreciate his service and wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” he added.
Following Nweke’s resignation, Ibas appointed Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, as the Acting Head of Service.
He congratulated Dr. Brown on her new role and reassured the people of Rivers State of his commitment to neutrality, peace, and stability in governance.
