The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that it has not yet released the 2023 Voter Register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) due to administrative reasons.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Resident Electoral Commissioner Johnson Alalibo confirmed that although RSIEC had formally requested the voter register, INEC has been unable to comply.
Alalibo added that the commission is also in receipt of a court judgment from Abuja that prevents the release of the register at this time.
“RSIEC applied for the register, but we have not released it due to administrative reasons and a court ruling,” Alalibo stated.
