President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Technology Innovation Complex at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The state-of-the-art facility includes a Command and Control Centre for monitoring regular migration, the NIS Data Centre, an ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, an Interior Data Centre, and a 0.5KW solar power plant.

Speaking at the event, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, highlighted the facility’s significance in enhancing border security.

She stated, “The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex will ascertain the risk level of persons entering the country, detect irregular migration patterns, and monitor unmanned borders in hard-to-reach areas nationwide.”

Nandap emphasized the use of advanced technology to secure the nation, describing the complex as “setting the benchmark to use technology to secure our borders and ensure the security of the nation.”

President Tinubu arrived at the venue at approximately 12:08 pm and was welcomed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Nandap.

Other dignitaries present included the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other heads of government agencies.

This landmark development underscores Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging technology in addressing migration and border security challenges.
