President Bola Tinubu conferred the prestigious national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The announcement was made during the Nigeria-India Bilateral Meeting held at the State House in Abuja on Sunday.
In his address, President Tinubu highlighted the significance of the award, underscoring Nigeria’s appreciation for India’s longstanding partnership and commitment to mutual cooperation.
“I am pleased to confer upon you, Prime Minister of India, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.
This symbolizes Nigeria’s gratitude and commitment to fostering a strong partnership with India,” President Tinubu stated.
He commended India’s consistent support for Nigeria over the years and acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the two nations in promoting democracy and development.
“You have stood side by side with Nigeria on many fronts for decades.
Through your leadership, India has ensured joint collaborations to maintain and strengthen our relationship,” the President added.
