The Nigerian Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning a cabinet reshuffle, although no specific timeline has been set for the exercise.
The decision will be guided by an evidence-based approach, influenced by public opinion and performance reviews.
This was disclosed during a media briefing at the State House on Wednesday, September 25, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, alongside O’tega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant on Digital and New Media.
According to Onanuga, the President has expressed his intent to reshuffle the cabinet but has not provided a concrete timeline for when this will occur.
While speculation suggests it could happen before October 1, the decision remains pending.
Ogra further explained that the reshuffle will be based on a detailed evaluation process coordinated by the Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman.
The performance of ministers is being reviewed periodically, with the results expected to shape the final decision.
Tinubu’s administration has been in place since the appointment of his ministers in August last year.
The President’s reshuffling plans come as part of an effort to ensure efficiency and accountability within his government.
In addition to the reshuffle, the President has directed his ministers to actively promote the achievements of his administration.
At the recent Federal Executive Council meeting, Tinubu encouraged ministers to engage more with the media, counter the perception of inactivity, and highlight the government’s accomplishments across various sectors.
The emphasis on public communication reflects the administration’s desire to improve its image and ensure that the public is well informed about ongoing projects and initiatives.
