The Rivers State Police Command has announced the promotion of 119 officers to various ranks in recognition of their hard work and dedication. The promotion ceremony was held on Friday in Port Harcourt, presided over by the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju.
Addressing the officers, CP Adepoju emphasized that the promotions were a testament to the recipients’ commitment and service to the Force. He reminded them that their elevation comes with greater responsibilities, urging them to uphold the integrity of the Police.
“As you are being promoted now, there are a lot of responsibilities, and you have to work more than ever before,” Adepoju said. “You have to uphold the name of the Force, carry its image with pride, and remain serious in your duties.”
Warning Against Misconduct
The CP also issued a stern warning against negligence, corruption, and human rights violations, stating that the Command would take swift action against any officer found guilty of unprofessional conduct.
He called on the officers to strengthen their relationship with the public through community policing, emphasizing its importance in fostering trust and effective service delivery.
Acknowledgment of Leadership
Adepoju commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission for their efforts in reforming and repositioning the Police Force for better performance.

The newly promoted officers include:
40 Superintendents of Police (SP) elevated to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP)
21 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) promoted to Superintendents of Police (SP)
58 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) elevated to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP)
The CP concluded by encouraging the officers to see their promotion as a call to higher service and to work diligently to maintain the positive image of the Force.
