Operatives of the Bauchi Police Command, arrested 15 individuals for their involvement in public disturbance and violent attacks in the state.
The arrest was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday.
Wakil explained that the group had been involved in violent confrontations with civilians and had targeted the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) office located near Kandahar Primary School.
The assailants set fire to the Civilian JTF office and a section of the State Government Primary School.
“During the unrest, members of the Civilian JTF confronted the attackers, and one of the assailants, identified as Saidu Musa, 22, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest from a locally made firearm,” Wakil said.
A team of police officers was dispatched to the scene, where they managed to de-escalate the situation.
Saidu Musa was promptly evacuated to the Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
According to the PPRO, preliminary investigations revealed that on December 18, 2024, the Civilian JTF encountered a group of restive youths in the Kandahar area.
The following day, December 19, the youths regrouped and launched a violent attack on the Civilian JTF office and the government primary school, causing significant damage and distress to innocent civilians.
