The Zamfara State Police Command has strongly condemned the senseless killing of Superintendent of Police Halliru Liman by military personnel attached to Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD).

SP Liman, the Divisional Police Officer of Wusagu Division, Kebbi State, was brutally murdered on August 28, 2024, while traveling to attend a monthly conference in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the police statement, SP Liman was stopped by military personnel led by one Hassan, who shot him in the head despite identifying himself as a police officer.

The police command has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident, describing the military’s actions as a clear violation of the rules of engagement and inter-agency cooperation.

The statement concluded by extending condolences to the family and colleagues of SP Halliru Liman and assuring them that the police will do everything in their power to ensure justice is served.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern among the police community, with many calling for swift action to be taken against those responsible.

The Zamfara State Police Command has vowed to work closely with the military to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident has also raised questions about the rules of engagement and the protocols in place for inter-agency cooperation, with many calling for a review of the existing procedures to prevent similar incidents.

The family of SP Halliru Liman has also called for justice, with his wife describing him as a dedicated and loyal officer who was loved by all who knew him.
