The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that its governors will address recent comments made by former Rivers State Governor and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

During a party congress in Rivers State on Saturday, Wike warned PDP governors to refrain from interfering in the party’s affairs in Rivers State, even threatening to “put fire in their states.” He emphasized, “Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us.

But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody.”

In response, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, “Nobody is above this party. It is the People’s Democratic Party.” He confirmed that the governors would address Wike’s remarks in their own time.

Ologunagba also discussed the party’s disciplinary process, noting, “We have established reconciliation and disciplinary committees with the mandate to handle these matters. We will await their reports before taking further action.”
