The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) achieved a sweeping victory in the Zamfara State local government elections, winning all 14 chairmanship seats and every councillorship position across the state.
The results were announced on Sunday morning by Bala Aliyu, Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC).
Addressing journalists after the collation of results in Gusau, Aliyu declared the elections as “free, fair, and credible,” attributing their success to the cooperation of security agencies, election officials, and voters.
PDP candidates triumphed in all local government areas, including Gusau, Kaura-Namoda, Maru, Talata Mafara, and Anka, among others.
Reacting to the victory, Wadatau Madawaki, PDP’s representative at the collation center, hailed the outcome as a testament to the party’s leadership and commitment to the state’s development.
He urged the newly elected local government chairmen to align with Governor Dauda Lawal’s “Rescue Mission” agenda to propel Zamfara forward.
Independent observers commended the peaceful conduct of the polls, highlighting enhanced security measures that ensured a smooth electoral process.
