Palestinian President, Mahmud Abbas, “strongly rejected” U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for Palestine to “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Abbas and the Palestinian leadership firmly dismissed any suggestion of seizing Gaza or displacing Palestinians from their homeland.
“Legitimate Palestinian rights are not negotiable,” the statement emphasized.
Speaking on Palestinian public television, Abbas’s spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeina, reaffirmed that the Gaza Strip “is an integral part of the State of Palestine.”
The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), led by Abbas, also condemned Trump’s reported proposal to relocate Gazans to Egypt or Jordan.
Hussein al-Sheikh, the PLO’s secretary general, reiterated the organization’s stance, stating that it “rejects all calls for the displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.”
The proposal has sparked strong opposition from Palestinian leadership, reinforcing their commitment to protecting Palestinian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
