Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala delivered another scintillating performance on Wednesday, scoring a hat-trick to propel Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal into the final of the Saudi Women’s Premier Challenge Cup following a dominant 6–2 victory over Al Ahli.
The Nigerian international, who had also registered a hat-trick in the quarter-finals, made it back-to-back treble-scoring outings to underline her rich vein of form and spearhead Al Hilal’s charge to the final.
Oshoala, a six-time African Player of the Year, was a constant menace to the Al Ahli defence, leading the line with authority and purpose. She opened her account in the first half as Al Hilal raced into a 2–0 lead at the break, before completing her hat-trick after the restart to cap a commanding individual and team display.
In the second semi-final, Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre and forward Francisca Ordega endured a disappointing outing as their side, Al Ittihad, were swept aside 5–0 by Al Nassr in a ruthless performance.
Al Ahli and Al Ittihad will now contest the third-place match on Saturday, December 20, while Al Hilal will face Al Nassr in what promises to be a thrilling final later the same day. With Oshoala in red-hot form, Al Hilal will be confident of rounding off an impressive cup campaign by lifting the trophy.
