The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has arrested a 32-year-old man accused of running a job scam operation, defrauding individuals by promising them fake employment opportunities within Kano State government ministries.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of the State Commandant, confirmed that the suspect, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, was apprehended after weeks of meticulous tracking.
“The suspect, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, 32 years old, a resident of Sagagi Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, was arrested after weeks of intense tracking of his whereabouts, following complaints lodged by individuals, mostly women, who had been duped by the suspect of more than N1.2 million,” Abdullahi revealed.
According to the statement, Ibrahim allegedly posed as a high-ranking government official, convincing his victims that he could secure them employment in various government ministries, departments, and agencies.
A promise that turned out to be entirely fraudulent.
The NSCDC noted that the investigation into the case has been concluded, and the suspect will soon be charged in court by the corps’ legal unit.
