The National Sports Commission (NSC) recently welcomed the Presidential Office of Digital Engagement & Strategy (PODES) in a strategic meeting aimed at advancing President Tinubu’s vision for digital transformation within Nigerian sports and social development.
Led by Senior Special Assistants to the President, Otega Ogra (Digital/New Media) and Ishaq Ahmed Ningi (Digital Media & Emergency Management, OVP), the PODES team engaged in productive discussions with NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko. Their focus included enhancing public engagement through digital platforms, promoting youth development, and creating career opportunities in sports and technology.
Dikko emphasized the mutual commitment to President Tinubu’s transformative vision, stating, “By merging PODES’ digital expertise with our sports initiatives, we can build a sector that resonates with Nigerians, showcases talent globally, and prioritizes safety.”
Key areas discussed included strategies for digital communications and emergency preparedness to elevate Nigeria’s sports sector on a global scale. PODES’ emergency management team, from the Office of the Vice President, will help establish safety plans for sports events, ensuring readiness for both national and international gatherings.
This collaboration establishes a foundation for PODES to spearhead digital innovation in sports, aligning with the Tinubu-Shettima administration’s broader goals for a vibrant, digitally connected Nigeria. Dikko expressed appreciation for PODES’ dedication to a unified approach, envisioning a sports sector that unites Nigerians and strengthens the country’s global influence.
