Chief Olufemi Soneye, the Group Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), has formally stepped down from his position after nearly two years in office.
His departure marks the end of a tenure during which he played a significant role in reshaping the public image and communication strategy of Nigeria’s national energy company.
While the specific date of his exit has not been confirmed, the resignation was officially communicated to colleagues and stakeholders.
According to details shared internally, Soneye stated that the decision to resign was motivated by a desire to devote more time to family and attend to pressing personal responsibilities.
He described his time at NNPC as a profound honour and expressed appreciation for the trust and support he received during his service.
During his tenure, Soneye was instrumental in advancing the communication frameworks of NNPC Ltd, especially amid the ongoing reforms and transformation of the company following the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.
He expressed gratitude to colleagues within and outside the organization for their professionalism and dedication, and encouraged continued balanced and constructive reportage in support of NNPC’s strategic goals.
Although stepping down from his official duties, Soneye pledged to remain a loyal supporter and ambassador of NNPC in his private capacity.
