The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) Joint Venture have reinforced their commitment to security and healthcare in Lagos State with the donation of two security vehicles and a specialized ambulance.
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) received the two vehicles to enhance security operations, while an intensive care unit ambulance was donated to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute Metta, to improve emergency medical response.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, SNEPCo’s Country Security Manager, Isaac Akinjogunla, representing Managing Director Ronald Adams, emphasized the company’s dedication to public safety. “This donation underscores our support for the Lagos State Government’s efforts to ensure security in the state,” he said, stressing the importance of “careful usage and proper maintenance of the vehicles so that residents can benefit from the donation.”
Similarly, Engr. Oluwaseyi Omotowa, Chief Upstream Investment Officer of the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), in a speech delivered by Deputy Manager, External Relations, Bunmi Lawson, highlighted the significance of the initiative. “By enhancing the operational capacity of security agencies, these vehicles will contribute to a safer environment for all residents. This donation complements our ongoing support in education and healthcare sectors within the state, reflecting our holistic approach to social investment,” he noted.
Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, expressed appreciation for the donation, stating, “Together, we can work towards a safer and more secure environment where our businesses continue to thrive, and our loved ones are safe.” This contribution follows NNPC-SNEPCo’s 2020 donation of 16 vehicles to bolster security efforts in Lagos.
At the FMC, Ebute Metta, the specialized ambulance was officially presented by SNEPCo’s Safety and Environment Manager, David Aghaiyo, on behalf of the Managing Director. “The ambulance supports the broader healthcare infrastructure within the community by facilitating quick transportation and medical care,” Aghaiyo remarked.
Reaffirming NNPC-SNEPCo’s commitment to improving healthcare access, Omotowa, through Lawson, added, “We recognize the critical role that healthcare plays in the lives of Nigerians and are dedicated to supporting initiatives that improve access to quality healthcare services.”
Receiving the ambulance, FMC’s Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Adedamola Dada, described the donation as an “answered prayer,” underscoring its vital role in addressing the increasing demand for emergency medical services at the facility.
NNPC-SNEPCo’s social investment initiatives, supported by co-venturers Total Energies, Exxon, and Nigerian Agip Exploration, extend beyond security and healthcare. The partnership also invests in education through scholarship awards, ICT centers, and digital libraries, as well as self-employment training under the Shell LiveWIRE scheme.
