Nine farmers have been killed in a fresh terrorist attack on Karaga village, Bassa Ward, in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The attack, which occurred on the night of Wednesday, February 26, saw the assailants storm the village, targeting victims in their homes.
Sources confirmed that six individuals were also abducted, while numerous cattle were rustled in the Farin-Doki community, also within Shiroro LGA.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the attack as brutal. “The victims in Karaga were brutally killed,” the source revealed.
It was also gathered that the slain farmers were mercilessly murdered, though the exact number of casualties remains uncertain as local vigilantes continue to comb the bushes for possible additional victims.
Meanwhile, other residents reported that the terrorists also raided Juwu-Farin-Doki in Erena Ward. Although no casualties were recorded in that attack, they raised concerns over the worsening security situation in Shiroro LGA, where communities are gripped by fear due to the recurring assaults.
Three days after the incident, relevant authorities in the state are yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
