The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has introduced a 24-hour emergency reporting channel aimed at strengthening security in schools and ensuring a swift response to threats affecting students and educational institutions nationwide.

According to a public notice issued by the Force Headquarters in Abuja on June 15, 2026, the initiative is being coordinated by the Schools Protection Squad (SPS) Command and Control Centre. The dedicated reporting line, 0807 735 7777, will serve as an emergency contact point for incidents related to school safety across the country.

The police said the channel is open to reports involving attacks on schools, assaults on student hostels located on or off campus, bullying, molestation, harassment, kidnapping or abduction of students, suspicious activities around school environments, and suspicious individuals observed on routes to and from schools.

Parents, students, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, and members of the public have been encouraged to promptly report any security concerns that may pose a threat to the safety of children and educational institutions.”The Schools Protection Squad can be reached by call or WhatsApp on 0807 735 7777,” the statement noted, adding that the service operates round-the-clock to receive distress calls and emergency reports.

The police further disclosed that the Schools Protection Squad platform is also accessible through the Police VGS application, providing an additional avenue for members of the public to report incidents.Emphasising the importance of collective action in safeguarding schools, the Force stated that school safety remains a shared responsibility among all stakeholders.

“Early reporting can help prevent danger and protect children,” the statement read.Reiterating its appeal for vigilance, the police urged Nigerians to take proactive steps in ensuring the security of schools by speaking up whenever they notice suspicious activities.”If you see something, say something,” the notice added.

The launch of the emergency reporting channel forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to enhance the protection of students, teachers and educational facilities amid concerns over attacks and other security threats affecting schools in parts of the country.
