The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has distributed over N72 million in student loans to three tertiary institutions, benefiting a total of 1,607 students.

The disbursement, aimed at easing the financial burden of tuition fees, was allocated to Federal College of Education, Obudu; Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna; and Adamawa State University, Mubi.

Federal College of Education, Obudu, received N21,789,500 in two tranches. The first batch, disbursed in October 2024, amounted to N14,320,500, supporting 215 students, while the second batch of N7,469,000 was released on March 5, 2025, benefiting 107 students.

Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, was allocated N2,900,000, covering tuition fees for nine students. Adamawa State University, Mubi, received the largest share, N47,621,121, providing financial relief to 1,283 students.

The beneficiary institutions have expressed appreciation for the financial support. Adamawa State University’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ibrahim Bwatanglang, welcomed the initiative and assured NELFUND of proper utilization of the funds.

The institution also requested an approved list of shortlisted beneficiaries for the second batch. Similarly, Abdulkadir Kure University’s Registrar, Dr. Garba Abdullahi, confirmed the receipt of funds and acknowledged the positive impact on students struggling with tuition fees.

The Federal College of Education, Obudu, through a letter signed by its Provost, Dr. Richard Utubaku, and Bursar, Joseph Ogar, commended NELFUND for a smooth and transparent disbursement process, describing it as a reflection of ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s education sector.

Reaffirming its dedication to expanding educational access, NELFUND emphasized its mission to ensure that no qualified Nigerian student is denied higher education due to financial constraints.

The organization also assured that more disbursements will follow in the coming months, reaching a broader spectrum of students across various institutions.
