The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a warning about the growing abuse of hazardous substances among youths in Lagos and Kano.
Recent drug seizures in these areas have uncovered the disturbing prevalence of dangerous substances disguised under unsettling street names.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, highlighted the issue by sharing a video of the seized contraband on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The confiscated items included New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and others with alarming names such as “Suck & Die,” “Rubber Solution,” “Dead Man,” and “Gelato.”
Authorities are concerned about the potential impact of these substances on public health and safety, particularly among vulnerable youth populations.
The NDLEA has called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing these emerging drug trends within their environments.
The agency emphasized the importance of collective efforts in curbing the spread of these substances, urging communities to work together to prevent further harm.
