The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), apprehended two suspects, Musa Usman (25) and Buhari Ya’u Bashir (24), during a targeted raid in Rahama Round, Bebeji Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted on January 20, 2025, led to the seizure of 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa (in wraps), 8 grams (38 tablets) of diazepam, and 59 grams (165 tablets) of Exol.
State Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad confirmed the arrests and denounced the violent resistance faced by the agency’s officers.
“One of the suspects, Musa Usman, armed with a dagger, attempted to attack our officers, injuring one of them,” Ahmad revealed.
The injured officer is currently receiving medical care, and Ahmad assured the public that such attacks would not deter the NDLEA from fulfilling its mission.
“We remain resolute in our commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State,” he stated.
The suspects are in custody and face prosecution for drug-related offenses and assault on a law enforcement officer.
Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the NDLEA’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized the agency’s unwavering stance against drug crimes.
“This operation demonstrates our determination to keep Kano State free from the menace of illicit drugs,” he said.
The NDLEA encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities to support ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the region.
