Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, presented a ₦382.57 billion budget proposal for 2025 to the state House of Assembly, emphasizing economic growth and stability.
Termed the “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability,” the proposal allocates ₦159.97 billion (41.82%) to recurrent expenditure and ₦222.60 billion (58.18%) to capital projects.
Key sectoral allocations include ₦80.14 billion for the Administrative Sector, ₦139.84 billion for the Economic Sector, ₦10.61 billion for Law and Justice, and ₦151.97 billion for the Social Sector.
During his presentation, Governor Sule praised the Assembly, led by Speaker Danladi Jatau, for its consistent support in passing appropriation bills.
“I appreciate the synergy and partnership in providing purposeful leadership to the people of Nasarawa State,” Sule stated.
He underscored the budget’s focus on recovery and development, prioritizing critical sectors such as education, infrastructure, agriculture, health, security, and technology.
Major allocations include: ₦78.16 billion for Education, Science, and ICT.
₦71.70 billion for Infrastructure , ₦50.75 billion for Governance, Security, and General Administration, ₦36.20 billion for Health and ₦36.07 billion for Agriculture and Water Resources.
Governor Sule also highlighted the state’s commitment to implementing the new minimum wage, stating that adequate provisions had been made in the budget pending the committee’s final report.
“The government is ready to implement the new minimum wage to meet current economic realities,” he affirmed.
Speaker Jatau, receiving the budget, pledged the Assembly’s swift action to ensure timely passage of the appropriation bill.
“The 7th Assembly will give all the needed support to the state government to implement its policies and programmes,” Jatau assured.
He commended the governor for boosting internally generated revenue and attracting investors through solid minerals exploration, positioning Nasarawa on the global map.
Jatau also lauded the improved security situation in the state, calling it one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states.
