The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), destroyed counterfeit, expired, and substandard products valued at ₦1.3 billion in Abuja.
Leading the exercise at the Kuje dumpsite in Abuja, the Director General of NAFDAC, Professor Moji Adeyeye, represented by Festus Ukadike, confirmed the items destroyed included fake drugs, hospital equipment, cosmetics, food products, and other substandard items.
Ukadike also disclosed that expired food items voluntarily submitted by local and international organisations, including the World Food Programme (WFP), were among the destroyed products.
The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and protecting Nigerians from harmful goods in the market.
