The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that over 400 suspected bandits were struck in air raids carried out under Operation Fasan Yamma in Zamfara State.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 11, NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodam, said the strikes were launched on Sunday after intelligence reports revealed plans by the bandits to attack multiple locations in the state.
According to Ejodam, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance confirmed the movement of more than 400 bandits who were preparing to attack a farming community. He said the operation, conducted with precision, involved a joint air and ground assault that neutralised scores of terrorists in the Makakkari forest.
“The airstrike was conducted with precision and supported by ground assaults on the terrorists, who met their waterloo,” he said.
