Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has filed a lawsuit against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), accusing the French champions of attempted extortion and moral harassment over their handling of his contract situation in 2023.
According to French daily Le Parisien, the France national team captain lodged a formal complaint on May 16, alleging that PSG sought to pressure him into signing a contract extension by banning him from training with the first team during the summer of 2023.
A judicial investigation has since been opened, with two investigating magistrates now assigned to the case. The probe was formally launched on Tuesday.
The complaint specifically targets the treatment meted out to the 26-year-old forward after he declined to extend his deal with the club. PSG excluded him from first-team activities for a period, a move Mbappé’s legal team claims amounted to “moral harassment.”
Mbappé eventually left PSG as a free agent and completed a high-profile transfer to Real Madrid.
