A tragic accident occurred on Saturday in the Oshodi area of Lagos when a 50-year-old man, identified only as Emmanuel, was fatally struck by a moving train near Arena Shopping Mall.
According to reports, the victim’s sister received a distressing phone call around 9 a.m. informing her of the incident.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the Mosafejo Division was alerted at approximately 1:33 p.m.
A team of detectives was promptly dispatched to the scene, where the site was photographed, and the body was taken to a public morgue for autopsy.
Hundeyin further stated that the investigation has been handed over to the Railway Police Command in Ebute Metta for further inquiry into the circumstances of the accident.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in August when a man was struck and killed by a train while walking along the Cappa railway tracks in Mushin, Lagos.
