A tragic incident occurred in Ikorodu, Lagos, where a 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, allegedly stabbed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death after a heated argument. The incident took place at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, on Friday, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
Motunrayo is reported to have stabbed his 25-year-old wife multiple times during the altercation, then locked her in their room and set it on fire. He also inflicted wounds on himself after the act.
A police team responded to the distress call, extinguishing the fire and discovering Olajumoke’s lifeless body with abdominal wounds. According to a statement by police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, Motunrayo was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before being placed in police custody.
The police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, with the victim’s body sent to the Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy.
