The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has announced its chairmanship candidates for the November 2 local government council elections in the state.

The chairman of the party’s primary elections committee, Mr Tanimu Adamson, revealed the names of the successful candidates while submitting the exercise report to the party’s state executive on Friday in Lafia, Nasarawa State,

Adamson explained that the party’s flag bearers emerged through consensus, as agreed by the party, in line with Article 20 of its constitution.

He listed the names of the successful chairmanship candidates for the 13 LGAs as Safiyanu Isa for Akwanga, Umar Dan-Akano for Awe, Jonathan Addra for Doma, Abubakar Madaki for Karu, and Adamu Aboki for Keana.

Others include Idris Damagani for Keffi, Bitrus Agbawu for Kokona, Mohammed Ahmed for Nasarawa, Iliya Aliyu for Nasarawa-Eggon, Isa Sani for Obi, Murtala Danmadami for Toto, and Ezekiel Jaga for Wamba.

He noted that the consensus candidates emerged following thorough consultation and resolution among the party’s stakeholders and the candidates.

Adamson also stated that the party’s councillorship candidates for the 147 electoral wards had similarly emerged through consensus.

Receiving the report, Aliyu Bello, APC State Chairman, thanked the committee members for their dedication and for fulfilling their mandate within the stipulated timeframe.

He expressed satisfaction with the calibre of individuals who had emerged as the party’s candidates and expressed optimism that the APC would win the election in all the local government areas, given the quality of its candidates.

NAN reports that the APC, at a stakeholders’ meeting on October 7, fixed October 14 and 16 for the councillorship and chairmanship primaries.

The party also adopted the consensus method for selecting candidates for both the LGAs and electoral wards at the meeting.
