The Labour Party (LP) has strongly refuted allegations of covert collaboration with President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support his re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh addressed the accusations in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, following the circulation of a viral video in which human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju claimed that the Labour Party leadership was working with Tinubu’s allies to secure his return to the presidency.

Dismissing the allegations as baseless and fabricated, Ifoh challenged Adeyanju to provide evidence to substantiate his claims.

“All what he said about the Labour Party is untrue, lies, and unfounded,” Ifoh declared. “It is on record that LP has, on several occasions, categorically refuted the allegations of any unholy understanding with the ruling party to collaborate ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He further emphasized that the Labour Party, led by National Chairman Julius Abure, has been the most vocal opposition force since the 2023 elections.

“We are, therefore, challenging Deji Adeyanju and others making similar claims to present facts and evidence proving that the party leadership or Abure has worked, is working, or plans to work for President Bola Tinubu or the APC in 2027,” Ifoh added.

Condemning the damage caused by Adeyanju’s assertions, Ifoh noted:
“Adeyanju’s assertion, which is currently trending globally, has caused the Labour Party enormous harm.

“We demand that he refrains from actions, whether intentional or otherwise, capable of ridiculing or undermining the party. He should also consider withdrawing his baseless claims and issuing an apology to the leadership and millions of Labour Party members for the significant harm his allegations have caused.”

The Labour Party reiterated its commitment to serving as a credible opposition force, standing firmly against any form of alliance with the ruling APC.
