The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to implement a 50% reduction in the new tax policy for workers in the state. The appeal also includes a request for the extension of tax holidays for state public service employees for an additional three months to alleviate the current economic hardship.
This plea was made by the state NLC Chairman, Muritala Olayinka, in a statement issued to journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday.
Olayinka commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his commitment to workers’ welfare, highlighting the prompt and regular payment of salaries and pensions as a significant improvement over the practices of previous administrations. He noted that the governor’s leadership has been instrumental in the execution of key infrastructural projects aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
“On behalf of the entire membership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara State Chapter, I extend our profound gratitude for your exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of Kwara State and its people,” Olayinka said.
He added: “Your Excellency’s dedication to workers’ welfare has not gone unnoticed. From the prompt payment of salaries and pensions to the execution of critical infrastructural projects that enhance the quality of life for all Kwarans, your administration has demonstrated an exemplary understanding of the challenges faced by the workforce and the general populace.”
The NLC chairman further praised the administration’s efforts in improving healthcare, education, and social amenities, describing them as vital for ensuring the well-being and productivity of citizens. He also lauded the governor’s inclusive governance and accessibility as a leader.
“As partners in progress, we reaffirm our support and cooperation in working with your administration to achieve more milestones for our beloved state,” Olayinka concluded, praying for the governor’s continued wisdom, good health, and success in steering Kwara State towards greater heights.
