Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called on Nigerians to support the families of fallen soldiers and those injured while serving the nation. This appeal came during the launch of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem on Tuesday in Ilorin.

During the ceremony, the governor announced a donation of N10 million to the Nigerian Legion, the organization tasked with supporting the families of deceased soldiers and injured veterans.

He stressed the importance of appreciating the sacrifices made by the armed forces, which he described as pivotal to the nation’s peace and unity.

A statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, highlighted the governor’s emphasis on the need for collective efforts to support the welfare of military families.

He called on local government authorities to mobilize grassroots support and urged citizens to contribute to the objectives of the Nigerian Legion.

The event was attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, and members of the Nigerian Legion.

The Commissioner for Social Development, Olaitan Abosede Buraimoh, praised the launch as a reflection of the state’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of the armed forces.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Kwara State, Retired Brigadier-General Abdulkadir Anigiobi, expressed gratitude to the governor for his consistent support.

He noted that AbdulRazaq’s attendance and donation marked a significant milestone, being the first time an executive governor participated in the emblem launch.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed annually, serves as a tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes and a show of solidarity with their families.

Governor AbdulRazaq reaffirmed the state’s commitment to ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten, sending a strong message of gratitude to both the families of the fallen and serving military personnel.
